Actual number at the time of that article was 1,332 counties with 1 or less ACA insurers in 2018, or more than 2 orders of magnitude different than what CBS has reported. For 2018, about 55% of counties had 1 insurer and 75% had 1 or 2 insurers.
CBS – and the media in general – continue to dig themselves in to a fictional news hole. Being off by more than 2 orders of magnitude is not a little editing mistake.
