Google analyzes the photos you take with your phone

“Google records the time and GPS coordinates for every photo taken. Google uploads images to the Google cloud and conducts image analysis to identify a broad set of objects, such as modes of transportation, animals, logos, landmarks, text, and faces. Google’s face detection capabilities even enable the detection of emotional states associated with faces in photos uploaded and stored in their cloud.”

….

“Google uses Photos to assemble a vast trove of identifying facial information, which has become the subject of recent lawsuits99 by certain states.”

….

“Google collects 3rd-party data in addition to information they collect directly from their services and
applications. For example, in 2014 Google announced that it would begin tracking sales in brick-and-mortar stores by buying credit and debit card transaction data. Such data covered 70% of all credit and debit transactions in the US. It contained the name of the individual, as well as the time, location, and amount of their purchase.”
