His manifesto reads like someone who has been indoctrinated by online propaganda, and in turn, produces a manifesto to explain his racist, white supremacist, eco-fascist environmentalism (he describes himself this way), and that he is a socialist that admires the government of China (but also describes himself as having been a communist, then an anarchist and then a libertarian). He also says he dislikes capitalism. His manifesto is his own attempt at propagandizing the world.

The Internet – and social media – both played large roles in shaping the mind of this terrorist.
