This poll reveals the stunning effectiveness of decades of non-stop propaganda messaging based on hysteria rather than facts and logical arguments:

Over the next 10-15 years, 29% of all voters believe it is at least somewhat likely that the earth will become uninhabitable and humanity will be wiped out. A ScottRasmussen.com national survey found that 71% disagree and find it unlikely.

Half (51%) of voters under 35 believe it is at least somewhat likely humanity will be wiped out in the next decade or so.

Another possible conclusion is that young adults are idiots or our public school system is a total failure.

There is no greater illustration of the power of propaganda messaging to induce mass psychosis than this. The onslaught of pseudo news reports – which seldom contain factual information, logical analysis or context – are creating mass hysteria that has resulted in high levels of youth anxiety and medicating youth. Adults (many of whom are politicians, activists or media) are lying to children and this is the outcome – young adults and children believe they will be dead in 10 years due to the climate. This is mass hysteria on an unprecedented level, unsupported by any science at all.

BBC news asks these questions of Extinction Rebellion – can they cite the science that supports their claim that billions of children dying in 20 years? Stick with the facts of CO2 rising, sea level ice and temperature changes, ice mass changes and stop the shrill screaming of nonsensical falsehoods. See our other posts on Climate Communications.

I suspect many, like me, have stopped reading the news about climate as the news reports have become disconnected from reality, facts, logic and context, and devoid of assertions or conclusions from peer reviewed published research. Many people are suffering anxiety and mental illness based on falsehoods that were told to them specifically to create fear for the purpose of propaganda messaging.

Extinction Rebellion are modern day Luddites.
