Twitter’s data analytics concluded that I a member of both the Democratic and Republican political parties. I am not a member of any political party.
Twitter recommended I follow these accounts – which seems a bit like free advertising (regardless of which party or candidate is being shown in these recommendations):
Similarly, Twitter frequently shows me posts from political candidates that are followed by a follower, and which I have no interest in seeing. Twitter seems to want us to be following – and likely commenting and engaging – on politics, which is a favored form of entertainment for some (not me). It also raises the emotional level of Twitter, which as we know, may help to sell more eyeballs to advertisers wishing to promote their own agendas (or products or services).
