Agitprop

A portmanteau pairing of the words “agitation” and “propaganda,” usually used to describe media productions (posters, books, movies, music, etc.) designed to instill pro-system thought patterns into those who consume them.

It was invented by the Soviets – an art form combining “agitation” with “propaganda”, where the latter is messaging intended to persuade a target group to adopt someone else’s agenda.

Agitprop can take many forms in the media – it merges political agitation with persuasion. I was not previously familiar with the term but now recognize that the agitprop form is quite common.
