Journalism: USA Today misreports on Oregon, even miscounts the number of Counties

  1. USA Today reports that 26 of 29 counties in Oregon have re-opened. Every part of that report is wrong. Oregon has 36 counties – several of which have no reported cases of Covid-19. 29 counties have reported cases. USA Today apparently assumed all counties in Oregon had cases, and therefore, assumed that there are 29 counties. That’s crappy journalism.
  2. As of May 14, 2020, 31 of the state’s 36 counties were approved for re-opening, not the 26 falsely reported by USA Today. By the June 13th date of USA Today’s fiction news report, 33 of the state’s counties had re-opened.
  3. As of June 18th (when their text, below, was updated) 33 counties have re-opened, and the remaining 3 were approved for re-opening.

This. Is. Journalism. Where essentially all of the easily cross checked facts – are wrong.
