I attended a Covid-19 party and you won’t believe what happened next

There have been many news reports about people supposedly attending Covid parties with an intent to get sick – or to show that Covid-19 is a hoax. One reporter noticed that all of these stories are very poorly sourced to third hand information, often from social media. In other words, probably fake.

I am aware of one specific incident where a local public health quack told news media that many people had attended local Covid parties. The next day, the quack reversed course and said the story was not true.

Like any urban legend, this one changes slightly with each telling.

I am no longer writing much about social media specific propaganda because I hardly use social media anymore.

I deleted my NextDoor.com account – the home of busy bodies telling everyone else how to live. I deleted all of my Twitter content and no longer post anything there; found Twitter to be the home of very angry people with poorly thought out opinions, plus the seeming mob rule/cancel culture going on there. I deleted all of my Facebook content and very rarely post anything there.
