Media focuses on scary rises in Covid cases but ignores declines
One way in which COVID media coverage is skewed is there's tons of attention to wherever cases are rising but little to where they're declining. e.g. Cases are *plunging* in NYC right now but there's almost no stories about that after weeks of scary news about variants, etc. pic.twitter.com/E91t5G7kZT

Have noted this before – the media thrives on fear mongering. They will spin even positive news in to something scary and negative.
When the story flip and becomes positive, they move on to the next scary topic. We saw this in spades late last summer. At that time, midwest states saw dramatically increasing Covid-19 cases. But in month or two, they were falling. The media gave us saturation coverage of the rise in cases – but never reported on the falling numbers in the upper midwest. Instead, they pivoted to AZ, TX and FL where they could find more temporarily scary numbers.
The Covid-19 pandemic has been an indictment of journalism. Far too much journalism is just garbage with scary headlines, creating global anxiety problems for all.
