CNN runs a prominent news story about the 5 states where ICU beds available is less than 10%. They conveniently left out many states that are also in that situation, apparently to make a point about Southern states?
The mother of a soldier who died last week in Afghanistan had her Instagram account deleted by Facebook after she posted a tribute to her decease son, a U.S. Marine.
The media has concluded that the Sturgis SD motorcycle event was a superspreader event. At this point, however, it was not. Meanwhile, the media has ignored other large events. So why the focus on Sturgis?
Science communications is performed precisely as a propaganda function: “The first is what science communicators call “the deficit model,” which assumes the public is deficient in their understanding of science and need scientists as the learned elites to help the benighted masses.” and “The second limitation is that the goal of health communication is not to inform others, but to change their behavior.”
This claim – no snow on Mt Shasta for the first time ever – is not accurate. No surprise – its on social media!
The headline links 4 fatalities to arrests for drugs and drunken driving – and amazingly misleading headline considering the facts.
Snopes has just destroyed its own reputation. Their co-founder was plagiarizing dozens of articles from elsewhere, plus writing fake columns and article on the site under a pseudonym. I may no longer link to Snopes except to note that Snopes is now officially an Internet misinformation service.
Bend, Oregon TV station KTVZ-21 ran a false news report destroying a local McDonald’s, falsely claiming they had refused food service to firefighters. The story spread nationally, plus was widely shared on social media and led to condemnation and threats against the staff (3 quit due to the threats). KTVZ has still not apologized to anyone for their fake news report. This story took place in my backyard. My fuse for garbage journalism is very short; I no longer consider KTVZ a reliable source for local news.
It would be news if CNN were caught running an actual, true news story.
Twitter not only deleted a funny, satirical tweet I had re-tweeted, but they substituted a different Tweet that I had never reinforced. In effect, Twitter not only censored content, Twitter also manufactured content and falsely attributed it to me when they chose to substitute a tweet I had never seen. This is bizarre and renders Twitter unusable.
