Source: Facebook Inc. rebrands as Meta to stress ‘metaverse’ plan

Decades ago, an airliner crashed at an airport close to where I then lived. The aircraft had initiated a “go around” but stalled and fell to the runway, spinning in a circle (horizontally) and splitting the fuselage open, coming to stop in front of the airport’s Fire station. Several passengers suffered broken bones but everyone escaped the wreckage.

We visited the airport a day later and were amused to find the airline name had been painted over to cover it up! We joked that next, they would change the airline name too. And in fact, within weeks, they did change the airline name! (Undoubtedly unrelated and in the works prior to the crash – but still funny).

Now, Facebook crashed and is on fire and changing their name to “Meta” in hopes we do not notice all the wreckage they’ve left behind! 🙂
