In: Let’s appoint a Ministry of Truth to track down and censor that which, at that very instant, someone thinks, is possibly false information.

A majority even favored censoring “heated political rhetoric”.

I have a different idea. Let each of us select our own filtering options.

1. I select no filtering and see everything.
2. I select let the platform decide for me.
3. I select an optional third party to decide for me.
4. I mark messages I do not want to see and an AI machine learning algorithms learns about my preferences and gradually auto censors what it thinks I prefer not to see.

It is entirely possible to let the user decide for themselves if they wish a censored news feed, or not, and if they choose a censored news feed, they could select who would do the censorship. This leaves the end user in control which seems far better than a US government Disinformation Governance Board, or censors at Facebook and Twitter.
