Why people no longer trust the police

Source: Austin Jailer Breaks Elderly Deaf Woman’s Arm After Misunderstanding at Airport: After three days in jail with only Aleve as treatment, she has received surgery – News – The Austin Chronicle

She couldn’t hear (she is legally deaf) and missed a flight change announcement. When she asked several gate agents for information, one of them called the police who accused her of “trespassing” (she wasn’t). They handcuffed her in a wheelchair and sent her to jail for 3 days. A jailer then forcefully threw her against a wall, and another forcefully twisted her handcuffed arms, breaking her arm. She received no treatment until release 3 days later. After being released from jail, she underwent surgery.

The DA has dropped all charges.

This is why people no longer trust the police and no longer believe we have a justice system.

Every individual involved from the gate agents to the police and jail staff needs to be sued.

This, though, is why so many today are terrified of the police. You also know that no one individual will be held accountable – except the taxpayers who will pay off the legal settlement.
