77% of journalists have an undergrad degree in the arts and humanities – typically journalism, English Language and Literature, Political Science and Government and Communications.
A majority of all such graduates wishes they had studied something else. The average pay is about $50k/year, which is not much, particularly since many attended private colleges and/or pursued graduate degrees in journalism.
